Developments: 2. The Toronto Maple Leafs secured significant victories in October 2026. In a matchup against the Colorado Avalanche, the team won 6-3 in Denver, driven by William Nylander’s five-point performance—reaching 700 career NHL points—and Auston Matthews’s four points. This game also marked Sergei Bobrovsky’s first win as a member of the Maple Leafs, where he became the third-oldest goalie in franchise history to win a game. The victory occurred amidst roster changes, including the absence of John Tavares and an upper-body injury to defenseman Chris Tanev. On October 24, 2026, the Maple Leafs extended their winning streak to four games with a 7-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place. William Nylander scored two goals during the contest, including his 300th career goal. Other Toronto scorers were Jack Roslovic, Auston Matthews, Troy Stecher, Zack MacEwen, and Vinni Lettieri. Goaltender Anthony Stolarz recorded 30 saves to help secure the win, which was bolstered by a four-goal third period. For the Oilers, Leon Draisaitl scored twice and Connor McDavid provided two assists. The game also featured a controversial moment when Draisaitl delivered a cross-check to Auston Matthews’s ribs, an incident that drew criticism but did not result in a penalty. The win reinforces Toronto’s historical success in Edmonton, where the team holds a 12-2-1 record since the Oilers moved into their current arena. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-24: Toronto Maple Leafs defeat Edmonton Oilers 7-2 The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Edmonton Oilers 7-2 at Rogers Place, led by two goals from William Nylander and a strong performance from Auston Matthews. 17 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/toronto-maple-leafs-defeat-edmonton-oilers-7-2 ### 2026-10-09: Toronto Maple Leafs defeat Colorado Avalanche 6-3 William Nylander recorded five points as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Colorado Avalanche 6-3, marking Nylander's 700th career NHL point and Bobrovsky's first win with Toronto. 22 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/john-tavares-misses-game-for-birth-of-fourth-child --- Cite as: Toronto Maple Leafs NHL performance.
