The Toronto Maple Leafs experienced mixed results in late October 2026. On October 15, the team suffered a 5-4 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres after surrendering a 4-2 lead. That game was notable for a hat trick by Kirill Marchenko and an injury to John Tavares following a collision with Josh Norris; Norris subsequently entered concussion protocol.

By October 22, the Maple Leafs secured a 5-4 victory against the New York Rangers, driven by a late decisive goal from Troy Stecher. This win marked Toronto’s third consecutive victory. However, the team also reported that defenseman Marshall Rifai has been placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury and is expected to be sidelined week-to-week.
