The City of Toronto has selected Stantec to provide design and construction administration services for a new High Rate Treatment Facility (HRTF) at the Ashbridges Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The facility is designed to have a capacity of up to 600 million litres per day. It functions as a critical part of the Don River and Central Waterfront Wet Weather Flow System, which uses tunnels and infrastructure to capture combined sewage and stormwater during heavy rainfall.

The project aims to reduce combined sewer overflows and improve water quality in the Inner Harbour, Taylor-Massey Creek, and the Lower Don River. This infrastructure is intended to protect public health, support recreational opportunities, and increase the city’s resilience to severe rainfall events.
