Traffic enforcement activities continue in Slovakia and Slovenia, focusing on speed limit compliance.

In Slovakia, police are targeting both minimum speed limit violations and extreme speeding. Under Act No. 8/2009 Coll., drivers on highways are required to maintain a minimum of 80 km/h when weather and traffic conditions permit. Drivers attempting to save fuel by traveling at 70 km/h may face a 50 euro fine. Authorities also continue to intercept extreme speeders; in the Trebišov district, a 43-year-old driver was clocked at 210 km/h in a 90 km/h zone, resulting in the immediate seizure of his license.

In Slovenia, authorities have implemented a sectional speed control system on several motorway stretches to prevent drivers from slowing down only for traditional cameras. The system calculates average speed by recording entry and exit times at both ends of monitored sections. The active segments include the A1 between Logatec and Vrhnika, the A2 between Ljubljana Brod and Vodice, the A2 between Grosuplje and Ivančna Gorica, and the A1 in the Trojane tunnel area (between Podmele and Ločica).

Fines in Slovenia range from 40 euros for minor infractions to 1,200 euros for exceeding the limit by more than 60 km/h. While the equipment has received metrological approvals, the Slovenian motorway company DARS previously noted that “additional technical refinements and documentation are required” before the official commencement of penalty issuance.
