Following a fatal accident on August 22 on Solna Street, where a vehicle traveling at approximately 70 km/h drove onto a sidewalk and killed a married couple, authorities in Kraków have installed “cushion-type” speed bumps. The measure aims to enforce a 30 km/h speed limit. 

Acting President Stanisław Kracik announced the installation as an optimal immediate solution for traffic calming. However, some local residents have criticized the response, arguing that the measures are insufficient and that the wide lanes may allow drivers to bypass the bumps, suggesting that more significant structural changes to the road layout are required. 

Regarding the legal proceedings, 26-year-old Hubert B. has been charged with unintentionally causing a traffic accident. Investigations indicated he was not under the influence of alcohol or other psychoactive substances at the time of the collision.
