Following his performances with Venezia in Serie B, midfielder Issa Doumbia became a subject of interest for several Italian clubs. During the summer transfer window, discussions occurred regarding a potential move to SSC Napoli; however, no formal written offer was submitted, and Doumbia instead signed with Sporting CP.

Since joining the Portuguese club for a fee of 20 million euros plus 6 million in bonuses, Doumbia’s profile has continued to rise. Following his recent performances and a call-up to the Italian national team, Juventus has maintained interest in the player. As of October 2026, Juventus is actively pursuing midfield reinforcements to address injury concerns involving players such as Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram, monitoring the 22-year-old Doumbia as a high-potential target.

Interest in the player has since expanded beyond Italy. Newcastle United has reportedly joined Juventus, AS Roma, and Brentford in monitoring the player. Doumbia’s profile has been further bolstered by a recent goal in the Champions League. To protect his market value, Sporting CP has implemented a release clause in his contract set at 80 million euros.
