Developments: 3. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is approaching multiple NFL milestones. Initially, Kelce was positioned to claim sole possession of seventh place on the all-time receptions list, needing only one more catch to surpass Tim Brown. Kelce also moved closer to breaking the NFL record for career receiving yards by a tight end. Entering his matchup against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field, Kelce required approximately 34 to 35 more receiving yards to surpass Tony Gonzalez’s career total of 15,413 yards. Analysts noted that Kelce’s pursuit was bolstered by extensive postseason success, having accumulated over 2,000 yards in ten postseason runs, compared to Gonzalez’s 286 yards across two playoff appearances. On October 25, Kelce officially set the new NFL record for receiving yards by a tight end, including postseason play. During the fourth quarter of the game against the Seahawks, his third reception of the period allowed him to surpass Gonzalez and reach a total of 13,342 yards. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-26: Travis Kelce sets NFL receiving yards record for tight ends Travis Kelce set the NFL record for most receiving yards by a tight end during the Kansas City Chiefs' loss to the Seattle Seahawks. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/travis-kelce-sets-nfl-receiving-yards-record-for-tight-ends ### 2026-10-23: Travis Kelce nears NFL receiving yards record for tight ends Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce needs approximately 35 more receiving yards to break Tony Gonzalez’s all-time NFL record for yards by a tight end. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/travis-kelce-nears-nfl-receiving-yards-record-for-tight-ends ### 2026-10-05: Travis Kelce nears NFL all-time receptions record NFL tight end Travis Kelce is one catch away from breaking Tim Brown's tie for seventh on the all-time receptions list as he celebrates his 37th birthday. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/travis-kelce-nears-nfl-all-time-receptions-record --- Cite as: Travis Kelce NFL career record pursuit.
