Events honoring former Uruguayan President José ‘Pepe’ Mujica have taken place in Spain and Uruguay.

In Oleiros, Spain, the local government scheduled the inauguration of the ‘Paseo Pepe Mujica’ seaside promenade, a walkway connecting Santa Cristina and O Graxalque. The ceremony included participation from Uruguayan Senator Blanca Rodríguez and Uruguayan Ambassador Bernardo Greiver del Hoyo, with a recorded message from former Vice President Lucía Topolanski. Officials noted the naming serves to celebrate Mujica’s historical legacy and his values regarding social coexistence.

Simultaneously, in Paysandú, Uruguay, the Movimiento de Participación Popular (MPP) launched a traveling photographic exhibition titled ‘Una vida en movimiento’. The exhibit, which includes book presentations and musical performances, is designed to summarize Mujica’s life and political journey through four stages.
