The 36th Trofeo José Luis de Ugarte sailing regatta took place in the Abra de Vizcaya, featuring approximately 200 young sailors across various lightweight classes, including Optimist, Ilca4, Ilca6, Feva, and 420. Participants represented several Spanish regions, such as Vizcaya, Guipúzcoa, Álava, Navarra, Cantabria, and Asturias.

Due to a lack of wind on the final Sunday of the competition, the rankings were determined by the three races completed on Saturday. Notable podium finishes for the Real Club Náutico de San Sebastián included Telmo Baqueriza Montoro in the ILCA 4 class and June Zurdo Sánchez with Siri Etxetxikia Jakobsson in the female 420 category.
