The Tunisia national football team continues to struggle in its 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifying campaign, facing what has been described as a qualification crisis. Following an initial 1-1 draw against Uganda, where Adem Arous scored but Rogers Mato equalized, the team recorded a 2-2 draw against Botswana at the Hammadi Agrebi Stadium in Radès.

In the match against Botswana, Hazem Mustari scored twice in quick succession to provide a lead, but the team failed to maintain the advantage, ultimately resulting in a second consecutive home match without a victory. This has left Tunisia with two points from two matches, matching Botswana’s tally in Group Eight.

Coach Mouine Chaâbani previously noted that the squad is in a “transitional phase” to integrate younger players, attributing the lack of wins to defensive errors and a lack of clinical finishing. Critics have since highlighted the team’s inability to convert territorial dominance into goals and a failure to defend leads, shifting Tunisia’s status from favorites to a side struggling to secure qualification.
