The Tunisian national football team has experienced significant instability following a period of squad restructuring. Initially, head coach Moïne Chaâbani recalled Amin Cherni to the national team for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, joining other Ligue 2 players to bolster the selection.

However, the team subsequently faced internal turmoil following disappointing results in the qualifiers, including draws against Uganda and Botswana. Tensions escalated into disputes between Chaâbani and several players, resulting in the dismissal of striker Elyes Chaabani and the departure of winger Elias Achouri. These conflicts led to the cancellation of a friendly match against Mali and prompted rumors of the coach’s resignation following an unexpected trip to Morocco.
