In early July 2026, Turkey’s farmer union called for immediate cash assistance after floods and storms damaged roughly 900,000 decares of crops. The appeal highlighted the urgent needs of farmers facing extensive losses.

By early August, the state‑run Agricultural Insurance System (TARSİM) had begun addressing those losses, disbursing 6.6 billion lira in compensation for damage caused by floods, hail, frost and other climate‑related events recorded between January and July 2024. The payouts covered 2 million policies protecting 1.1 trillion lira of assets, 24 million decares of land and 17.6 million livestock. Damage reports totaled 345 000, with wheat, barley, apricot and grape among the most affected crops. TARSİM announced plans for an additional 9.2 billion lira as remaining claims are processed.
