Turkey is implementing a development model focused on smart industrial clustering and regional specialization to increase production capacity. This strategy involves designating specific regions for strategic sectors, such as defense and aviation in Ankara and Eskişehir, automotive in Bursa and Izmir, and food and agriculture in Adana and Konya.

To support this, the nation is expanding its network of Organized Industrial Zones (OSBs). The number of these zones has grown from 191 in 2002 to 373 following the establishment of the Kepsut OSB in Balıkesir. This expansion has seen employment within these zones rise from 415,000 to 2.7 million people. Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that these zones are being transformed into “high-technology, value-added, and environmentally friendly production centers.”

Local initiatives, such as the Kırklareli OSB, are also working to leverage strategic locations to increase export capacity and employment numbers.
