Turkey and Saudi Arabia have moved to implement a renewable energy partnership through the ratification of an intergovernmental agreement. The initial phase of this cooperation involves the construction of two solar power plants in Turkey’s Sivas and Karaman regions, with a combined planned capacity of 2,000 megawatts.

Following this ratification, plans have emerged to expand the partnership to a total of 5,000 megawatts of capacity. Minister Alparslan Bayraktar indicated that progress on an additional 3,000 MW agreement is intended to align with the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP) process.

In addition to this bilateral cooperation, Turkey is shifting toward integrating solar energy systems directly into the design and construction phases of new commercial, industrial, and residential buildings to improve technical and economic efficiency.
