These outreach efforts focus on providing information regarding preventive health services, healthy living habits, and medical support access to improve community health awareness. Expanding on the scope of METIP, Turkey’s Minister of Labour and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, announced plans to modernize the project into a more sustainable and participatory model. While the project has seen significant financial allocations since 2010—with approximately 180 million lira allocated for the 2017–2026 period—the new strategy aims to move beyond basic housing provision. The proposed framework seeks to integrate social services, such as education and healthcare, with agricultural production. This holistic approach intends to involve local governments, NGOs, and the private sector to prevent issues like school dropouts and to improve access to transportation and social services for workers and their families. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-13: Turkey aims to modernize Seasonal Agricultural Workers Project Turkey's Labour Minister Vedat Işıkhan aims to evolve the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Project (METIP) into a sustainable, participatory model focusing on housing, health, and education. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/turkey-aims-to-modernize-seasonal-agricultural-workers-project ### 2026-10-09: Yerköy health teams conduct outreach to seasonal agricultural workers Health teams in Yerköy are conducting field visits to seasonal agricultural workers under the METIP project to provide preventive health education and improve access to medical services. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/yerky-health-teams-conduct-outreach-to-seasonal-agricultural-workers --- Cite as: Turkey Seasonal Agricultural Workers Project development.
