The program aims to prevent children from being placed in social service institutions by providing financial aid that allows them to remain with their families. Monthly assistance is tiered based on the student’s educational level, ranging from preschool to higher education. Eligibility is determined through social investigations and requires families to meet specific thresholds of economic need or hardship caused by factors such as natural disasters or severe illness. In October 2026, Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş announced that the ministry completed payments totaling 2 billion 233 million lira to eligible recipients. The minister emphasized that the initiative prioritizes family-oriented assistance to foster healthy, educated individuals within supportive domestic settings. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-15: Turkey Ministry of Family and Social Services issues 2.2 billion lira in SED payments Turkey’s Ministry of Family and Social Services has distributed 2.233 billion lira in October SED payments to support families with children's educational and social development costs. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/turkey-ministry-of-family-and-social-services-issues-22-billion-lira-in-sed-payments ### 2026-10-12: Turkey Ministry of Family and Social Services provides SED education support Turkey's Ministry of Family and Social Services provides tiered monthly SED education support to low-income families, with payments ranging from approximately 6,592 TL to 11,866 TL based on school level. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/turkey-ministry-of-family-and-social-services-provides-sed-education-support --- Cite as: Turkey SED education support program.
