Companies such as Havelsan have focused on educational outreach, including robotics and coding workshops for students involving the BAHA sub-cloud UAV. In competitive settings, university students have also demonstrated AI-powered UAV capabilities with the ‘Alpagu V3’ system. Simultaneously, there is a significant push toward laser-based defense systems. Roketsan’s ALKA Directed Energy Weapon System has been showcased for its ability to defend infrastructure against low-cost drones using electromagnetic jamming and laser technology. MKE successfully demonstrated the Tolga anti-drone system, which utilizes a 20 kW fiber laser module to engage targets at varying distances. Integration of these technologies into major platforms is also underway. Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) is developing the ANKA-III drone, intended to feature Directed Infrared Countermeasure (DIRCM) systems to defend against infrared-guided missiles. Furthermore, Aselsan is prototyping the YILDIRIM-300 system for the fifth-generation KAAN fighter jet, with flight trials anticipated by the end of 2026. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-25: Turkey develops laser defense systems for drones and aircraft Turkey is expanding its defense technology with new laser systems, including DIRCM for ANKA-III drones and the Tolga anti-drone module capable of blinding or destroying aerial targets. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/turkey-develops-laser-defense-systems-for-drones-and-aircraft ### 2026-10-25: Turkish defense companies showcase UAV and laser technologies Havelsan, Roketsan, and university students showcased advancements in Turkish UAV and laser defense technologies through educational outreach, international competitions, and AI-driven drone development. 12 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/turkish-defense-technologies-showcased-at-international-military-competition --- Cite as: Turkish defense industry technological developments.
