In late September 2026, Turkish basketball leadership expressed varying outlooks on their respective teams. Beşiktaş President Serdal Adali voiced full support for coach Dušan Alimpijević, granting him autonomy during a rebuilding phase following a difficult start to the season. Meanwhile, Anadolu Efes coach Pablo Laso expressed optimism after a victory against Real Madrid, citing goals to reach the top of the league.

By early October, the situation for Anadolu Efes shifted following a loss to Olympiacos. Laso critiqued the team’s performance, specifically highlighting issues with turnovers and allowing 21 offensive rebounds. He also addressed the team’s need to psychologically adapt to the absence of Mike James, describing the player's departure as a “massive blow” to the organization.
