Mevlüt Aktan, a member of the TFF Board of Directors, resigned citing a lack of vision, experience, and organizational competence within the current administration. Aktan criticized the leadership for operating like a ‘family company’ and failing to fulfill promises regarding the economic structure and brand value of Turkish football. His departure follows broader issues including investigations into betting irregularities and refereeing concerns. In response to this legitimacy crisis, the TFF Board has reportedly reached a consensus to move toward an ‘Extraordinary Elective General Assembly’ to restructure the federation. Amidst this period of instability, General Secretary Abdullah Ayaz also resigned from his position, effective October 5, 2026. While the federation expressed gratitude for his tenure, no official reason was provided for his departure, and a successor has not yet been named. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-07: Abdullah Ayaz resigns as Turkish Football Federation General Secretary Abdullah Ayaz has resigned as General Secretary of the Turkish Football Federation, effective October 5, 2026.
