The Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Services has taken legal action against social media influencers regarding the use of children and state services for content creation.

In one instance, a court blocked the Instagram account of influencer Özlem Öz following Ministry intervention. The Ministry reported that content involving a minor during a circumcision procedure violated the child’s privacy and bodily integrity, stating that “the best interests of the child must be observed” and that parental consent does not legalize privacy-violating posts.

In a separate matter, the Ministry filed a criminal complaint against influencer Ersan Gülmez, also known as E. D. Gülmez announced he would sell socks worn during a football match for $10,000, claiming proceeds would benefit children under state protection. The Ministry characterized the use of children and its official social media accounts to turn the event into a spectacle as unacceptable. The Ministry requested content removal and access blocking, alleging the posts could constitute “openly insulting the State of the Republic of Turkey” under the Turkish Penal Code.
