The Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality has commenced full production at its Solar Power Plant (GES) located in the Pazarcık Karabıyıklı neighborhood. The facility, which was inaugurated on July 18, represents a 200 million TL investment supported by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

The 6-megawatt plant covers 100,000 square meters and utilizes 10,400 double-sided solar panels designed to capture reflected sunlight via the albedo effect. The plant generates an average of 1 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy per month, covering approximately 60 percent of the municipality’s energy requirements and meeting the monthly electricity consumption of about 5,000 households. The project is intended to reduce fossil fuel reliance and lower energy costs.
