In mid-September 2026, the country hosted an international conference in Arkadag City titled “Independent, Eternal Neutral Turkmenistan — the land of horse-filled aspirations: a space of peace, friendship, and cooperation.” The event brought together government officials, diplomatic missions, and international organizations to showcase Turkmen history, traditional crafts, and the cultural significance of the Akhal-Teke horse through exhibitions and performances. Following this, on September 29, 2026, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of national independence, the government inaugurated the Akhal-Teke Equestrian Complex of the President near Ashgabat. This 1,200-seat facility is designed for the scientific breeding and year-round maintenance of the breed, featuring modern veterinary laboratories and specialized agricultural areas for dietary crops. The opening ceremony included the presentation of an Akhal-Teke horse as a gift to a representative from China’s Daqing Huiyou Breeding Co., Ltd. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-30: Turkmenistan opens new Akhal-Teke equestrian complex in Ashgabat Turkmenistan has opened a new 1,200-seat Akhal-Teke Equestrian Complex near Ashgabat, featuring advanced veterinary laboratories and scientific breeding facilities. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/turkmenistan-opens-new-akhal-teke-equestrian-complex-in-ashgabat ### 2026-09-13: Turkmenistan hosts international conference in Arkadag City An international conference was held in Arkadag City, Turkmenistan, celebrating the nation's cultural heritage and the significance of the Akhal-Teke horse. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/turkmenistan-hosts-international-conference-in-arkadag-city --- Cite as: Turkmenistan Akhal-Teke horse preservation efforts.
