The fifth edition of the Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon in Kasese, Uganda, transitioned from a planned global broadcast to a completed international event. 

Prior to the race, World Athletics announced it would livestream the marathon on its official YouTube channel, a first for a race in Uganda. Organizers aimed to use the broadcast to showcase the region’s tourism potential and scenic beauty. 

On the day of the event, approximately 8,000 runners from 26 countries participated in various distances, including 42km, 21km, 10km, and 5km races. The marathon has achieved World Athletics Label Road Race status, making it the first in Uganda to receive this designation. The event is part of a broader strategy to integrate sports with Uganda’s tourism industry.
