Tyran Stokes, the top-ranked basketball recruit in the class of 2026, began his freshman season at the University of Kansas. During an exhibition game against Louisville, Stokes recorded 15 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, though he faced challenges with field goal efficiency. Kansas head coach Bill Self noted that Stokes is working to balance his high profile and the intense spotlight with his private life.

Following his early performances, Stokes was named to the 50-member watch list for the 2026-27 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Men's College Player of the Year, alongside teammate Trey Kaufman-Renn.
