The UAAP Season 89 basketball tournament has seen significant movement in both the Men’s and Women’s divisions.

In Men’s Basketball, the La Salle Green Archers have improved their standing. Following a 112-87 blowout victory over the UE Red Warriors that brought their record to 2-2, the team faced a demanding schedule including a rivalry match against the Ateneo Blue Eagles. Despite the absence of star playmaker Jacob Cortez, who was sidelined with a hyperextended right knee, La Salle defeated the UST Growling Tigers 92-80. Led by Jcee Macalalag’s career-high 28 points and Doy Dungo’s 24 points, the Green Archers moved to a 5-4 record, securing solo third place in the standings.

In Women’s Basketball, the UP Fighting Maroons secured a 63-58 win against the La Salle Lady Archers at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. This victory ended a two-game losing streak for UP, bringing their record to 2-2. Louna Ozar contributed 20 points, while Camille Nolasco added 16 points. La Salle’s efforts were hindered by a left ankle injury to Kyla Go late in the game, though Bukko Ojo recorded 14 points and 14 rebounds.
