The municipality of Ubatuba, Brazil, has implemented new data-driven initiatives to improve public policy and resource allocation.

In late July, the city launched a digital disability registry managed by the Secretariat of Defense of Women’s Rights and Persons with Disabilities. This registry aims to collect data on the geographic distribution and specific needs of residents with disabilities to support inclusion policies in sectors such as health, education, and urban mobility.

Following this, in August, the Ubatuba Social Assistance Secretariat introduced its first socioterritorial diagnosis. This initiative involves multiple social assistance facilities, including the Specialized Social Assistance Reference Center (CREAS) and the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS), to map local vulnerabilities, unmet demands, and rights violations. The diagnosis is intended to support the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS) through informed decision-making and efficient budget management, with a final report expected in December.
