Udinese Calcio dismissed German manager Kosta Runjaic following a period of poor performance, highlighted by a 5-2 home defeat against AS Roma. The loss left the club in the penultimate position of the Serie A standings with only five points from ten matches. Amid his dismissal, Runjaic is reportedly a leading candidate to become the head coach of the Poland national team. Following Runjaic’s departure, the club officially appointed Paolo Zanetti as the new head coach. Zanetti, who has previously managed Venezia, Empoli, and Hellas Verona, signed a contract running until June 30, 2027. During his official introduction, Zanetti emphasized a philosophy based on hard work, commitment, and physical effort. He stated that playing time would be determined by performance and work ethic, noting, “with me, those who run, work, and pedal will play.” Addressing the squad, Zanetti described the team as a “nearly perfect machine” that must increase its intensity to avoid relegation. He also noted that the club is currently evaluating the fitness of Solet ahead of the match against Venezia. ## Timeline ### 2026-11-04: Paolo Zanetti introduced as new Udinese manager Paolo Zanetti has been introduced as Udinese's new manager, promising a focus on hard work and high intensity to improve the club's Serie A standing. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/paolo-zanetti-introduced-as-new-udinese-manager ### 2026-11-02: Kosta Runjaic dismissed by Udinese amid Poland national team interest Udinese has sacked manager Kosta Runjaic following a heavy loss to Roma.
