Ugandan courts have processed several cases involving terrorism and violent operations linked to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).

In one proceeding, Ibrah Muwonge, a leader of the Uganda Defence Forces, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to terrorism and terrorism financing. His involvement included the 2022 destruction of 14 high-voltage electricity pylons and poles in central Uganda, which caused widespread power outages affecting water supplies and health facilities.

In separate cases, former ADF recruits and state informants Hamza Lyavaala and Adiil Walusansa pleaded guilty to murder charges related to staged bomb incidents in June 2025 at the Munyonyo Catholic Martyrs Shrine and Kalerwe Market. These incidents resulted in multiple deaths. While the defendants initially attempted to withdraw their pleas, they reaffirmed their guilt in a Kampala court. They are jointly charged with Lieutenant Colonel Ephraim Byaruhanga, a former director of special operations in military intelligence, who denies all allegations. Lyavaala testified that Byaruhanga recruited them to organize the operations to gain attention from superiors amid internal intelligence disagreements. Sentencing for Lyavaala and Walusansa is scheduled for November 2, 2026.
