The West Midlands Ambulance Service has announced a £14.2 million investment to construct a new operational hub in Shrewsbury. Located at Emstrey Bank near the A5, the facility is intended to secure ambulance provision in Shropshire for the next 30 years.

The site is designed to accommodate over 500 staff, doubling the capacity of the current Longden Road location. It will house more than 50 ambulances and feature expanded on-site fleet maintenance and ‘make ready’ capabilities, alongside specialized training areas and improved staff accommodations. The hub is planned to meet modern sustainability standards, adhering to Net Zero requirements with a BREEAM Excellent Rating and full electric vehicle enablement.
