The National Crime Agency (NCA) secured convictions against five gang members who attempted to smuggle £13.8 million worth of cannabis into the UK via Birmingham Airport. The attempt was detected after the group paid excess baggage fees in Bangkok for 22 suitcases containing vacuum-packed drugs. In a separate investigation, four men—Kenneth Burton, Paul Harkness Mawby, Anthony Devine, and Mohammed Khan—have been charged with conspiracy to produce methamphetamine. The suspects allegedly operated a laboratory at a rural farm near Furnace End, Warwickshire, where investigators discovered gas canisters, plastic tubs, and metal tubing.
