The UK government has implemented multiple measures to assist households with energy costs and transitions. To facilitate clean energy transitions, the Warm Homes Loan scheme provides no-interest or low-interest loans for technologies such as solar panels, battery storage, and heat pumps. Loan limits range from £15,000 for solar and batteries to £35,000 for ground-source heat pumps. Participating lenders include Tandem Bank, British Gas, and E.On. 

In a new development, the Labour government announced a £100 Household Energy Payment for approximately 80% of households in England within council tax bands A through D, starting in January. This £2.6 billion initiative is accompanied by an extension of the electricity VAT cut until July 2027, the abolition of gas standing charges, and the scrapping of the hydrogen levy. These reforms are funded by a temporary increase in the Bank Corporation Tax Surcharge from 3% to 6% between January 2027 and March 2028. Critics have noted that tying payments to council tax bands may disproportionately benefit wealthy residents while missing less affluent households.

A separate Debt Relief Scheme is expected to launch in the spring to address an estimated £2.47 billion in energy debt accumulated during the 2022–2024 energy crisis.
