Local authorities across the United Kingdom are conducting various public consultations to shape regional development and community services.

In late August 2026, councils in Wiltshire and West Oxfordshire initiated processes regarding local development plans. These consultations focus on guiding future infrastructure, housing, employment, and climate change policies through 2043.

By late September 2026, the scope of local consultations expanded to include library and archive services. In London, Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea launched surveys to identify service priorities, while Bedford Borough Council began exploring development options for the Bedford Central Library, including potential relocation or facility improvements.
