The United Nations Security Council has held briefings regarding the political and economic stability of Syria. Initial reports emphasized that Syria’s economic situation is a “critical factor” for a successful transition and that international cooperation is needed to support a Syrian-led process.

Subsequent discussions expanded on the necessity of converting political support into tangible funding and technical assistance to improve daily life. Security concerns were also raised, specifically regarding Israeli military activities in southern Syria and the importance of adhering to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

Diplomatic representatives also highlighted social and humanitarian risks, including the need for dialogue in Sweida and the protection of religious and ethnic communities. Concerns were raised regarding violence in Sukaylabiyah and Homs, as well as the potential for a ‘lost generation of children’ due to a lack of educational protections and ongoing instability.
