The Central Bank of Brazil has reported fluctuations in the amount of unclaimed funds held by financial institutions through the Sistema Valores a Receber (SVR).

In August 2026, the bank reported R$ 5.1 billion in unclaimed funds, with R$ 3.76 billion belonging to 22.66 million individuals and R$ 1.35 billion tied to approximately 2 million legal entities. At that time, monthly redemption trends showed a decline from April through June. Some resources were being directed toward the Desenrola 2.0 debt renegotiation program to fund the Guarantee Fund for Operations (FGO).

By September 2026, data indicated that unclaimed funds rose by 10.27% in July to reach R$ 5.65 billion, reversing three months of decline. Of this total, R$ 4.35 billion is owed to approximately 23.6 million individuals, while 2.19 million companies have R$ 1.4 billion pending withdrawal. The largest concentration of these funds, R$ 2.38 billion, is held in bank accounts, followed by consortium administrators at R$ 1.96 billion.

Detailed breakdowns of the July figures show that the majority of these funds consist of small amounts: 69.45% of beneficiaries hold between R$ 0.01 and R$ 10, while only 2.22% hold more than R$ 1,000. Beyond banks and consortium administrators, cooperatives hold R$ 762.7 million. Since the inception of the SVR, the central bank has returned over R$ 16 billion to account holders.
