A 250-kilogram American-made aerial bomb was discovered by water management workers under a railway bridge in Globoko, within the Radovljica municipality, while they were working on a tributary of the Sava River.

The State Unit for Protection against Unexploded Ordnance (NUS) planned a deactivation and removal operation to address the damaged front fuse of the ordnance. To manage the risk of a potential explosion, authorities scheduled the movement of the bomb from the left bank of the Sava to a specialized protective structure on the right bank. This measure was intended to direct any shockwave into the riverbank, reducing the required safety radius from 1,200 meters to 400 meters.

During the intervention, authorities implemented safety measures including the suspension of railway traffic, the closure of local roads, and the closure of airspace, including Lesce Airport. Residents in the vicinity were advised to shelter indoors during the operation.
