Following the announcement, Yaya Kader Fofana of Stade de Reims was named the UNFP Ligue 2 Player of the Month for September, securing 46% of the vote. The 21-year-old Ivorian midfielder earned the award after scoring four goals in three matches, including a brace against Guingamp. Augustine Boakye of AS Saint-Etienne finished second with 33% of the vote, while Damien Durand of Red Star received 21%. Boakye had been a strong contender after recording four goals and three assists in seven matches, but he missed out on succeeding his teammate Irvin Cardona, who held the title for August.
