The samba school União de Maricá secured promotion to the Grupo Especial after winning the Série Ouro title. Their winning performance, ‘Berenguendéns, Balangandãs’, celebrated the school’s 12-year history.

Following this achievement, the city of Maricá opened the ‘Carnavais da Utopia’ exhibition at the Casa de Cultura. Curated by Gringo Cardia, the exhibition showcases official costumes and interactive elements to trace the school’s journey from its 2015 founding to its upcoming 2027 debut in the Rio de Janeiro Carnival Special Group. The exhibition also highlights the school’s 2027 theme, ‘Utopia Brasil: Darcy Ribeiro’, which honors the anthropologist and educator.
