In late July, coach Ilie Poenaru outlined Unirea Slobozia's preparation for the upcoming Romanian Liga 2 season, noting a delayed preseason, limited squad availability and the integration of new signings, including Lithuanian midfielder Deimantas Rimpa and Hungarian forward Gergely Bobal.

The team opened the campaign with a 1‑1 draw against FC Bihor Oradea. An early third‑minute goal by Angelo Cocian gave the home side the lead, and a disallowed off‑side strike occurred in the 49th minute. Unirea equalised through Bobal in the 84th minute.
