The United States is observing Constitution Day and Constitution Week, marking the anniversary of the 1787 signing of the U.S. Constitution. National observations include educational programs, public readings, and art exhibitions as the country approaches its 250th anniversary. Discussions involve both the document’s role as a democratic foundation and critiques of its historical flaws.

At the local level, communities are participating through official proclamations and civic engagement activities. In Cullman, the mayor issued a proclamation to encourage reflection on citizenship, supported by the Daughters of the American Revolution. In Shelton, local libraries are hosting history-focused activities and book clubs to introduce children to concepts such as voting and the document’s history.
