Demolition activity has increased, particularly around the former Sinbad stunt theater, following the 2023 permanent closure of Poseidon’s Fury. While Universal Destinations & Experiences has not officially announced what will replace the land, the redevelopment has sparked significant speculation regarding new themed environments. Initial rumors suggested a potential ‘The Legend of Zelda’ themed area, coinciding with updates from Nintendo regarding a live-action film. More recent speculation points toward a Pokémon-themed area, potentially featuring a family-friendly roller coaster or a dark ride inspired by Pokémon Snap, following a global partnership between Universal and The Pokémon Company. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-05: Universal Orlando prepares to replace Islands of Adventure's Lost Continent Universal Orlando Resort is dismantling the Lost Continent land at Islands of Adventure, fueling speculation that a new Pokémon-themed area may replace the original mythology-inspired site. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/universal-orlando-prepares-to-replace-islands-of-adventures-lost-continent ### 2026-09-09: Universal Orlando redevelops Islands of Adventure area amid Zelda news Universal Orlando is demolishing The Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure amid Zelda speculation, while Nintendo shares details on its upcoming live-action film and the resort announces a new Halloween lounge 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/universal-orlando-redevelops-islands-of-adventure-area-amid-zelda-news --- Cite as: Universal Orlando Islands of Adventure redevelopment.
