The Universidad Autónoma Chapingo (UACh) is involved in a legal and physical dispute regarding the Zoquiapan Experimental Forestry Station in Ixtapaluca. Members of the Ejido de Río Frío have blocked access to the 1,640-hectare site since October 2025, which the university claims has disrupted scientific research and academic activities. In response, students and academics have sought federal intervention, delivering a letter to President Claudia Sheinbaum to request safe, permanent access to the property.

Parallel to the land dispute, the university has faced internal unrest. On October 27, students and faculty held protests against the leadership of Rector Ángel Garduño García. Protesters raised allegations regarding the influence of the Antorcha Campesina movement over university administration and decision-making bodies. Critics have also linked this movement to the occupation of the Zoquiapan forestry station, leading to broader debates over institutional autonomy and political interference.
