Following a period of momentum built from a draw against Getafe and a domestic win over Farul Constanța, the Romanian side delivered a strong performance at the Estadi de la FAF. Assad Al-Hamlawi opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, followed quickly by a goal from Ștefan Baiaram in the 5th minute. Although Borja Arellano reduced the deficit for Inter d'Escaldes in the 77th minute, Simon Elisor sealed the victory for Craiova in the 86th minute. This result brings Universitatea Craiova to four points after two matches in the league phase. The match was notable for the presence of US Men's National Team coach Mauricio Pochettino in the stands, who was watching his son, Maurizio, play for the Andorran side. Following the match, player Nicușor Bancu observed that the team appears “stronger than in the previous season.” Coach Filipe Coelho emphasized the necessity of focus and respect for the opponent, noting that “details make the difference” in such matches. The team is now preparing for an upcoming home fixture against Egnatia. Baiaram’s early goal marked a return to scoring form following a period of low offensive efficiency. Former player Silvian Cristescu noted that local players in Craiova face high pressure from supporters regarding commitment and energy, suggesting Baiaram’s recent difficulties were linked to perceived energy levels. In response to these performance fluctuations, Mihai Stoichiță, technical director of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF), suggested that sports psychology could assist the player, noting that the federation’s psychologist is available to help manage the mental aspects of the game. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-21: Ștefan Baiaram returns to scoring form for Universitatea Craiova Ștefan Baiaram scored in Universitatea Craiova's Conference League win against Inter d’Escaldes, ending a scoring drought amid discussions regarding player pressure and psychological support. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/tefan-baiaram-returns-to-scoring-form-for-universitatea-craiova ### 2026-10-21: Universitatea Craiova defeats Inter d'Escaldes 3-1 in Conference League Universitatea Craiova earned their first Conference League group stage win, defeating Inter d'Escaldes 3-1 in Andorra with early goals from Al-Hamlawi and Baiaram. 25 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/universitatea-craiova-prepares-for-inter-club-descaldes-match ### 2026-10-17: Romanian SuperLiga: Craiova wins while UTA Arad defeats CFR Cluj Romanian SuperLiga round 12 saw Universitatea Craiova defeat Farul 2-0, while UTA Arad secured a historic 1-0 win over CFR Cluj, leaving the latter facing internal restructuring and squad challenges. 23 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/universitatea-craiova-manages-heavy-schedule-following-getafe-draw ### 2026-10-14: Universitatea Craiova and Getafe draw 1-1 in Conference League debut Universitatea Craiova and Getafe CF drew 1-1 in their UEFA Conference League opener, with goals from Assad Al-Hamlawi and Nemanja Gudelj. 25 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/universitatea-craiova-faces-getafe-in-uefa-conference-league-opener ### 2026-10-12: Universitatea Craiova draws 1-1 with Getafe in Conference League Universitatea Craiova drew 1-1 against Getafe in the UEFA Conference League, generating roughly 450,000 euros in total revenue from ticket sales and stadium concessions. 15 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/darius-olaru-and-marius-corbu-secure-europa-league-victories --- Cite as: Universitatea Craiova wins against Inter d'Escaldes.
