Pablo Rodríguez, dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Buenos Aires, has warned that economic difficulties are causing many people to postpone dental treatments, allowing oral pathologies to evolve and worsen. 

To address these needs, the university has deployed mobile dental units to provide services such as cleanings, cavity treatments, root canals, extractions, and prosthetics during free health service events at Plaza de Mayo. The faculty reports an increasing number of patients seeking university services because they cannot afford private treatments or because insurance providers are reducing coverage due to the rising costs of materials and supplies. The university continues to advocate for increased funding and better salaries.

In response to broader regional challenges, the College of Dentists of the Province of Buenos Aires has intensified efforts to detect and prosecute the illegal practice of dentistry. Through a coordinated strategy across ten districts, the institution is implementing workflows to conduct field investigations and pursue judicial actions against individuals practicing without professional registration. This includes a partnership with the General Procuration of the Supreme Court of Justice of Buenos Aires to develop complaint protocols and provide training for professional leaders. 

Additionally, the municipality of Tigre is collaborating with the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) Faculty of Dentistry through its ‘Sonríe Tigre’ program. This initiative provides dental check-ups, cavity treatments, and fluoride applications to students in the Delta region's schools to promote preventative care.
