In early September 2026, the Somali Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education signed a cooperation agreement with UDST to establish Somalia’s Technology University (TUS University). This initiative, part of Somalia’s National Transformation Plan 2025–2029, focuses on technical and vocational education in fields such as Information Technology, engineering, and healthcare management to align skills with labor market needs. Later in the month, UDST reported internal milestones, including the hosting of a ‘Takreem’ ceremony to honor partners in innovation and research.
