The University of Jaén (UJA) has undertaken several initiatives to strengthen its research capabilities and international presence. The institution expanded its scientific staff by incorporating 15 high-level researchers through various programs, including the Ramón y Cajal, Beatriz Galindo, and Juan de la Cierva contracts. These appointments cover diverse fields such as Health Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, and Psychology.

On the international front, UJA established a Training and Research Center at Hebei University in China through a Memorandum of Understanding.

Additionally, the university reported a significant increase in student enrollment for the 2026/2027 academic year, reaching a record 3,507 undergraduate students. Rector Nicolás Ruiz Reyes characterized this as a “notable success,” noting that the university has reversed previous declining enrollment trends by attracting students from outside the province and from abroad.
