The University of Maine hockey programs are navigating various competitive transitions. The men’s team entered a rebuilding phase aimed at reclaiming program culture following a disappointing 18-14-3 season. Coach Ben Barr noted that changes in NCAA eligibility for Canadian players impacted recruiting and cultural cohesion, leading to several player departures via the transfer portal.

By mid-October, the men’s team recorded a split series against Quinnipiac University, securing a 5-3 win after an initial 2-1 loss. Meanwhile, the women’s team, holding a 2-5-0 record, prepared for a non-conference series against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
