The University of South Florida football team began the 2026 season with a strong performance, securing a 59-17 victory over Delaware State. This win marked the program’s first 3-0 start since 2018 and extended a home winning streak to nine games.

However, the team’s momentum ended with a 17-13 loss to Temple, which halted their undefeated start and ended the nine-game home winning streak. Head coach Brian Hartline cited offensive execution and alignment issues as factors in the defeat, noting a decline in scoring averages compared to the previous season.
