In mid-October, the Faculty of Science reopened its renovated Biology Department building. The restoration, costing nearly 25 million euros, focused on preserving the 130-year-old structure while improving seismic resistance, energy efficiency, and accessibility. The project was funded through the state budget, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, and the EU Solidarity Fund. By late October, the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry reopened its building on Kovačićeva Street. This 20 million euro renovation is part of the ‘reSTART Pharma’ infrastructure project. The reopening allows the faculty to reunite teaching and research activities at its main address after more than three years of operating from temporary locations. University officials noted that the project required high technical standards to ensure safe and functional laboratory spaces. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-27: Zagreb University Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry building reopens The Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry in Zagreb has reopened its Kovačićeva Street building following a 20 million euro renovation necessitated by the 2020 earthquake. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/zagreb-university-faculty-of-pharmacy-and-biochemistry-building-reopens ### 2026-10-16: University of Zagreb opens renovated Biology Department building The University of Zagreb has reopened its renovated Biology Department building following a nearly 25 million euro restoration project focused on seismic safety and energy efficiency. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/university-of-zagreb-opens-renovated-biology-department-building --- Cite as: University of Zagreb post-earthquake building renovations.
