Polish police in Warsaw rescued a 23-year-old Slovak woman who had been held against her will for more than a week. The woman was located in a hotel in the Wawer district after her mother contacted Slovak authorities regarding concerns that her daughter was being detained by several men.

Investigations indicate the woman had traveled from Slovakia intending to find work in Ukraine. After an initial job opportunity failed, she was allegedly offered a different position involving transit through Poland. During this period, she was reportedly forced to work in a fraudulent call center, had her travel documents confiscated, and faced threats of physical violence.

Authorities detained five individuals: three Slovak citizens and two Ukrainian citizens. Following a prosecutor’s request, two of the Slovak nationals and both Ukrainian nationals have been charged with deprivation of liberty and placed in three-month investigative detention.
