New recreational and nature-focused urban spaces have been established in the Czech cities of Ostrava and Opava.

In Ostrava’s Radvanice district, the Ladův park has opened. The project, costing 3.5 million CZK, revitalized a waterlogged area by utilizing its natural terrain to create a periodic pond, willow tunnels, and wooden walkways. The design, inspired by the paintings of Josef Lada, incorporates elements such as wooden animal sculptures and fruit trees to support biodiversity and water retention.

In Opava, a new water playground has debuted near Stříbrné jezero (Silver Lake). This 2.1 million CZK investment allows children to interact with water via pumps and fountains. The project is part of a larger revitalization of the lake area, which was formerly a gypsum mine.
